Forms: Option to allow business emails only

Based on a request from multiple business units, we have developed a new feature in Xaver forms that will eliminate the entry of private email addresses. Instead, leads are forced to enter their company email. The feature is set up to be configurable and maintainable in the long term.

How does it work?

The principle of the feature is quite simple - for the email field in Xaver forms, it is possible to enable the so-called business email validation, which will prevent site visitors from submitting a form in which an email is entered with the domain of one of the major email providers (typically @gmail.com, @seznam.cz, etc.). The user is alerted to the incorrect domain as soon as they leave the form field, not after trying to submit it, so they can correct the error immediately.

How can I enable the function?

Validation is activated for each form separately, specifically at the configuration level of the "Email" form text field. The procedure is as follows:

  1. First, you need to go to the Forms module in Xaver CMS and go to the edit page for each individual form.
  2. On the form editing page, then go to the bottom of the screen to edit the "Text Fields" section where the "Email" text field is located.
  3. On the detail section, there is no list of form items, so the "Email" text field is also listed, click edit on that.
  4. In the dialog box for editing the "Email" type text field, there is a parameter that enables the validation of business emails (the default state is off).
  5. Once validation is turned on, all form levels need to be saved sequentially, which will also ensure that the form cache is properly purged.

Settings options

To ensure the long-term sustainability of the function and possible individualization for individual regions, a new view for setting up the Forms module has been created. The Forms settings can be accessed via the "Manage form settings" item when you are in the Forms module.

Currently, there is management of non-business domains, which are treated as private emails and will prompt business email validation when entered.

When updating the site, default values are always stored in the database, which form a list of the world's most used domains at the beginning of 2024. The list can be reduced or expanded at will, it can be especially useful for Seyfor Adriatic in the context of supplementing local email service providers.
